St Peter's Church is the oldest building in Campbelltown and the third oldest Anglican Church in Australia. It opened for worship on 29th June, 1823, in the 33rd year of the colony.
The registers, all intact within its ancient walls, record 8720 baptisms, 2130 marriages and 2783 deaths to the close of 1982 as well as the coming and going of 20 incumbents and numerous curates.
It seats comfortably 200 adult worshippers in 32 Queensland maple timber pews and 40 in the choir gallery. It was originally built for 200 people. Most probably the convicts stood at the back under guard and the rest were at the front housed in box pews.
